Izumo Taisha
Izumo Taisha is a renowned landmark in the Izumo area, rich in history and deeply connected to Japanese mythology. Widely known as a sacred site for matchmaking, it holds a special place in Japanese culture.
While October is generally referred to as [Kannazuki] (the month without gods) in Japan, it is called [Kamiarizuki] (the month of gods) in the Izumo region. This is because it is believed that all of Japan’s deities gather at Izumo Taisha to meet under the deity Okuninushi-no-Okami.

Inasa Beach
Located near Izumo Taisha, Inasa Beach is considered a spiritual power spot where deities from across Japan are said to gather during Kamiarizuki (the month of gods, in the old lunar calendar's October).
According to the Kuniyuzuri myth, one of Japan’s ancient legends, the gods tested their strength against each other at Inasa Beach, which is believed to be the origin of sumo wrestling. Visitors can collect sand from the beach, bring it to Izumo Taisha, and exchange it for blessed sand said to ward off misfortune.

Izumo Hinomisaki Lighthouse
Standing as the tallest lighthouse in Japan, Izumo Hinomisaki Lighthouse is located on the Shimane Peninsula, which juts out into the Sea of Japan. From the lighthouse, you can enjoy breathtaking views of the deep blue sea.
The surrounding area is lined with restaurants offering fresh seafood dishes, such as seafood rice bowls, making it a destination where you can enjoy both stunning scenery and delicious local cuisine.
